If you are like the rest of us, you could probably use some extra gas in your "tank". Whether you are physically exhausted, emotionally taxed, mentally drained, overwhelmed with responsibility or just not up to snuff, here is a personal growth assignment JUST for you!
Operating from the understanding that the level of the well of resources from which we draw our power can be affected by either adding to or taking from, I'd like to hit this from two sides.
ADD: Brainstorm on all of the things that you have in your life that really make you feel GOOD. Is it working out, sleeping, reading a good book, spending time with your kids, finishing a project, sex with your mate, "ME-time", baking, doing something nice for others? Now pick ONE that is at the top of the list...one that packs a lot of power to the punch. NOW...pump it UP! Do MORE of it. If you know working out makes you feel great, for example, do it every day. ADD to your tank of well-being.
CONSERVE: Brainstorm on all of the things that you have in your life that make you feel BAD, take the wind out of your sails or leave you depleted. What are the factors that make your life-meter plummet like a video game character? Does drinking too much leave you feeling hungover, ashamed and inefficient? Does your co-worker make you want to jump out of your office window? Do you have a family member who is an energy vampire? Are you plagued by your own inner dialogue? Are you worried about something? Pinpoint a big factor that really puts a dent in your tank. Now minimize your exposure to that. Give it LESS power. If you can eliminate it altogether this week (NOT drinking, moving offices away from the idiot co-worker, etc.) then do so. If you can't, then make a conscious commitment to yourself that you will NOT allow this one variable to have as much of an impact on your tank as it has in the past. Cut back the amount of phone calls you accept from the vampire, allow yourself to only worry 2 hours about whether your kid is adjusting to his or her new school instead of 5. You get the idea.
If you ADD some, and then minimize the DRAW...your tank will be MUCH more full. TRY IT!
